Current Fave: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup and Palgantong Theatrical Powder

During the middle of our makeup work for the Board of Directions of STI a few weeks ago, my makeup artist friend who was with me til morning commented "ang tibay ng makeup mo!". We were together for almost 7 hours (I think!) and when I checked the mirror, yeah my makeup was still intact and no shine, in fairness! whooaaa.'s not actually the first time that I've proven the strength of the power combo that I've been using during events and gigs where I need my makeup to stay without much retouch.

And because I love sharing great beauty discoveries in this blog, let me present to you my favorite combo at the moment: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and Palgantong Theatrical Powder.

Palgantong Theatrical Loose Powder from Beauty and Minerals. This powder is the best makeup I've used for oil control. It also makes the finish smoother.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-place Makeup. This is a very durable makeup that's easy to blend and doesn't cake (at least for me). I love love love it.

And very recently, I like using my new Charm Flat Top brush in applying the Palgantong. It's my first flat top brush ever! It's just so soft and feels nice on my skin. Its flat top surface helps me push the powder on my problem areas better and use a swirling motion for blending. Some use it in applying liquid foundation but I haven't tried it yet. So far, I find this brush very chic and useful.

Shiseido Makeup Certification with Angela Boh

When I got an invitation to attend a makeup workshop from Shiseido to be conducted by its Chief Training Manager for Asia, Ms. Angela Boh, I immediately confirmed without having second thoughts. I may have attended a lot of makeup courses and certifications and have been practicing makeup in the Philippines for years but I still have a lot of things and techniques to learn. I got curious on what techniques Ms. Angela is using to create a flawless and radiant finish and of course I want to try Shiseido products. I've been wanting to try their foundations, concealers and their famous eye lash curler for a long time now but I still have too many products to finish so I kept on delaying my Shiseido  makeup shopping sigh.

When I arrived on the venue, I saw these on the table assigned to me: the new Shiseido foundation brush, some brushes, sponge, mixing plate, spatula, translucent finishing powder, blush trio, lip pencil, eyeliner, concealer, mascara, long-wear cream eyeshadow, concealer, lip gloss, and Shiseido eyelash curler

I'm one of those who arrived early and Mrs. Martinez so we had the chance to do a photo-op with Angela Boh even before the workshop started.

Angela showed us the step by step makeup application: using the base, foundation, concealer, powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, eyebrows, cheeks and lips. She also showed us how to use this new foundation brush:

This new foundation brush easily creates a perfect natural finish with great coverage. Use it with patting motion on areas where you need full coverage (usually the undereye area and the center of the face), pressing motion on areas where you need just a sheer or medium coverage and use it to blend on the flawless parts of your face (usually the sides). I love love love it because it works well with any type of foundation, emulsion or powder.

Here's the after shot of Ms. Angela's model. Sorry I wasn't able to take a front and close-up shot. But do check out the Shiseido Philippines Likepage for the official photos.

And we also got the chance to apply what we learned on our models. Here's my model, Madel. She's got great skin so I concentrated more on covering her dark circles.

Madel's before shot

Madel's after shot. I used Shiseido's new radiant lifting foundation on her. Love it so much. See how it made her face bright and flawless. It's great for full coverage too.

Thank you so much Shiseido Philippines for that wonderful experience with Ms. Angela Boh. I learned new techniques that I'll definitely be able to use on my clients. The New Radiant Lifting Foundation and Natural finish concealer are next on my to-buy list :)

My Personalized Mirror for Makeup Gigs

I get a lot of compliments from brides, clients and fellow wedding suppliers regarding my personalized mirror. It's just a simple transparent sticker but very nice in photos plus people need not ask my name when I'm working and a simple way of advertising my wedding business :)

I really love these photos of my bride Arcy by Ruffa and Mike Photography

And for those who emailed me asking where I got my mirror, I bought it from a fellow makeup artist, Cherry Pacheco. You can also order the sticker from her (I think!)

Swatch: Models Own Lipstick in Deep Fuchsia

I've been hearing and reading the Models Own brand for a long time now but haven't tried yet because I've stopped splurging in buying makeups for a long time now and everytime I get something , I really need it for work hehe. So I was so excited when I got a tube of Models Own Lipstick in Deep Fuchsia as a gift from purchasing a Z-Palette Pro from The Makeup Suite Online Shop. (yeah...I know I'll be on a defensive mode...I really need the empty palette to organize my powders and eyeshadows. It saves space on my kit, helps me work more efficiently plus it looks more professional).

I like this brand of lipstick because it's very affordable and has a very good quality.  I wear this Deep Fuchsia if I want to get that Barbie pink vibe. In fact, I wore this color on a makeup gig a while ago for a company photoshoot and someone commented, I looked like a doll haha.

Love it! Have you tried Models Own? Share your feedback on the comment below.

Tommy Girl Eu de Prep

Hello guys! For the past two weeks, I've been using a new scent, Tommy Girl Eu de Prep. I still have my old Tommy Girl perfume and I treasure it the most because my mom gave it to me but I find it too flowery at times. I don't use the same perfume everyday as I choose it depending on my mood and of course the occasion. But I've used the Eu de Prep for two weeks straight.

The scent is not that strong to make a statement during the day and for a lightly sophisticated mood in the evening. Try it out when you visit the perfume counters in the mall!

Eau de Prep Tommy Girl is girl’s perfect companion, regardless of whether she’s at tennis court or in ballroom. The fragrance opens with pink peppercorn, green apple and violet leaves. A heart carries the scent of white roses and the composition closes with sandalwood, hawthorn and musk. It is the ultimate accessory that completes your look and provides a long-lasting, memorable image.

Flacons are very elegant. They are made of see-through glass and embellished with golden inscriptions and cap. Outer carton of the edition for women is colored in red, while men’s version is navy blue.

Wedding Hairstyling Made Easy with Hair Extensions

Remember the heat-resistant synthetic clip-on hair extensions I bought at Landmark before? Well, I just like to share to you guys that I've used it already for a couple of wedding gigs.

Belle, one of my August brides, wanted to have a longer curly side-swept hairstyle during their wedding reception. But her hair is a bit fine and shoulder-length so I used the hair extensions I'm talking about on her. See how nice the overall outcome is :)

Jac, my September 7 bride, has super fine hair like a baby. If I use her real hair to create a bun, it'll be super small so I decided to use the hair extensions on her.

(photo during their prenup photoshoot at Crescent Moon Cafe)

The bun came out like this. Nice noh? And what I like most about the hair extensions I got (dark brown) is that it matches the common hair color of Filipinas. I kept coming back to Landamark to check out if they have stocks already but sadly, it's still not available.

And during Jac's reception, I removed all the pins of the bun to create a pretty curly half up do.

My only comment about it is that it doesn't curl instantly. I tried to curl it using a curling iron but didn't get the result I wanted so I pin-curled the sections 2 days before their wedding to ensure that it's curled nicely.

Rave: In2it Waterproof Eyebrow Colour

While cleaning my makeup kit for a wedding gig on Friday, I realized I haven't blogged about this product that has been a staple on my kit since purchased last year.

It's the In2it Waterproof Eyebrow colour.

For the bride, I still use the MakeupForever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector for the base color as an added insurance that the eyebrow color won't fade even on humid days. Then I set it with the lightest color from In2it for light-colored hair. I use the 2nd if I want to make it darker. And my favorite is the darkest because I can create natural-looking hairlike strokes for uneven eyebrows.

I threw the brush that came with it though hehe.

And as a proof, here's my April bride Soraya. I used the In2it waterproof eyebrow powder to fill in the spaces on the corner of her brows. See how a fuller and well-defined brows made a difference. The color didn't fade from morning til evening without retouch :D

The Magic Lipstick

During a wedding gig last April, the mom-of-the-bride asked me if I could use her own lipstick on her because it's what she's been using ever since. She said she likes it because it really stays even after she eats and it doesn't dry her lips. I asked her where she bought that as the brand and packaging is unfamiliar to me. But sadly the MOB bought it abroad and she doesn't know if it's available in the Philippines.

Then when I had to go to SMX for the orientation of the upcoming bridal fair that I'll be joining, I saw this on sale at Beauty Bar for only P149.95 (me thinks!).

The look of that lippie is still fresh on my mind and according to the Beauty Bar staff, some calls it "Magic Lipstick". Without thinking twice, I bought one to try haha.

The one I got is the lightest. The others are color green and yellow which turns slightly intense red when applied on the lips.

Here's how it looks on me with a dabbing application. I'm now careful because the color goes really bright if I apply too much.

Now that I own one, I've proven that it's really long-wearing and it doesn't dry out my lips even without gloss on top. But if you have dry lips, moisturizer is needed before and after application. It also works as a great base (just be reminded to apply thinly) for your lipstick so your lips will still have that pretty tint even if your lipstick wears off. I just wish there were more shades available.

Have you tried this magic lippie? What do you think?
