Airbrush makeup provides a light, seamless veil of color over the skin, creating the illusion of a perfect face. Having it misted on allows the true skin tone to show through without masking the face. Most clients nowadays demand this technique that's why I am so excited to finally have the equipment and start practicing. *Thanks to my dear sponsor*
After months of contemplating of which one to get, I finally settled on:
Sparmax AC-66 compressor
After months of contemplating of which one to get, I finally settled on:
Sparmax AC-66 compressor
Why I chose it?
- It's compact, reliable, quiet, easy to use and pressure adjustable as stated on the box.
- Weighs 4.2 lbs. Still heavier than the other portable airbrush compressors available locally but this one is proven to be heavy duty. There are times when you have to do make-up for 5 people or more that's why I believe it's wise to invest on a reliable machine right from the very beginning.
- You can set the pressure up to 50 psi which is very ideal for me as I've read that there are some airbrush paint that is hard to clean but can be easily removed using a high air pressure.
- It has a gun holder.
- Very easy to operate.
- Sparmax claim it to be zero maintenance: fan cooled, thermally protected and oil less piston type compressor.
According to a David Klasfeld, New York Make-up artist: Some brands will work better in certain airbrushes more than others, but that's dictated by the size of the nozzle. So for example if your gun is a .2mm, what will work best in it is alcohol-based or similarly thin formulas. The thicker formulas won't work as well (even when thinned) as they would in a .3mm or .35mm gun. Personally, I always err on the side of .3mm (Iwata Revolution BR) to .35mm (Sparmax SP-35 or Iwata Eclipse HP-CS) - all three are dual action as well.
For the meantime, enjoy the photos. Will update you guys on how well these new babies of mine perform as soon as I start my Airbrush lessons next week. Stay tuned!
