How to prepare yourself for breastfeeding?

A colleague told me when I was still carrying my little Liam inside my womb, "If you really want to breastfeed, you should be really be determined because it is really hard!". I admit that it scared me a little. But mothers will do everything for their babies right? Since I've been purely breastfeeding my baby for five months now and counting, I have proven that the best thing to do in order to be succeed is to prepare yourself for it. Here's what I did:

- I read and joined forums about breastfeeding. You'll get everything from here like advise, breastfeeding stories, article links and event updates. These forums are helpful:

- I joined Breastfeeding Support Groups:

La Leche League conducts meetings once a month. Visit http://www.llli.org/ for more info.

- I read helpful websites about breastfeeding.

We are very fortunate enough to have these things available for us now unlike during the time of our moms that's why most of us weren't breastfed. I asked my dad why my mom wasn't able to do it. He said that my mom has no milk. Which is not true because "all moms have milk, they just have to work it out" (except in special cases but it's very rare). I guess my mom was just not informed. (I don't blame you mom! I love you :) haha) That's why I'm encounraging every moms-to-be out there to give it a try. You already have everything you need. It might work for you too :)

Depending on where you are located there are lots of breastfeeding support groups that meet at local stores.

The Pump Station in Los Angeles (Santa Monica, Hollywood and Westlake) has become like a "Mommy Cult." lol They have lots of classes and breastfeeding support groups run by lactation consultants.
