It's so easy to make our own Matcha Latte at Home

It's so hot in the Philippines right now. It's no joke that the weather is extreme these days. I want to just stay at home and be in an airconditioned room all day. However, sometimes that aircon also fails so cold refreshing drinks really helps. 

We recently tried The Matcha Tokyo Cafe in Mitsukoshi Mall in BGC. We loved it so much, but it's just so expensive for us to have it frequently. So we just make our own at home. It's better for us because we can choose the type of milk that we want and how much sugar we add. It's so easy and quick. It's better to watch this video so you could easily follow:

New Ramen Place Alert: Marudori, same owners of Mendokoro brought chicken-based ramen in the PH

My husband has been raving about this new ramen place in Makati. He said that it was so good and that he would bring me there one of these days. I kept bugging him and when we found time to have a short date while our kids were at school, I finally tasted this raved ramen place.

Marudori Ramen is a Japanese restaurant located in 8Rockwell. They have another branch in Salcedo Makati where the first branch of Mendokoro was previously located. They serve delicious and authentic chicken broth ramen dishes. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and friendly service, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. We went there at 11 am on a weekday so there weren't much people and we were able to enjoy our dining experience. Whether you're a ramen lover or just looking for a tasty meal, Marudori Ramen is definitely worth trying. Honestly, it's one of the best ramen I've ever tasted.

Landers Recent Super Crazy Sale

I admit that I was scared to go on super crazy sales before because of traffic and the crowd. It was our first time visiting Landers Super Crazy Sale last week and we had so much fun because of the huge deals we were able to score. The crowd was actually tolerable for me and there was nearby parking inside the Uptown Mall in BGC so we didn't bother to park in Landers.

We went there twice actually because we wanted to get more of those that we liked when we first went to the sale. I was able to buy some of their PISO sale too. The expiration date is still next month so it's still fine for me like the Swissmiss Reduced Fat Chocolate Drink, Coca-cola Vanilla flavor, and Chupa Chups Room Spray.

I'll definitely go back when they have this type of sale again because it's worth it! We also love being a member of Landers Superstore! No joke. We love our experience here and we've been members for 2 consecutive years already. We always grab the opportunity whenever they give discounts on membership.

Komorosaba, a Japanese resto that offers an affordable but delicious Japanese meals!

I remember Komorosoba being on top of my list on what to eat during lunch time when I was working in the Ortigas area around 15 years ago. Well, I'm not really surprised that they're still in the business after all these years because what they're offering are affordable delicious meals for people who frequently visit the place.

Tendon - Php 109

Contains 1 piece of shrimp and vegetable tempura

Sukiyaki Don - Php 135

This has been my usual order. I like the tofu with thin strips of beef and sotanghon rice toppings. The sauce is very delicious

Beef Soba Udon - Php 168

If you love udon, this is a must try. The soup is a rich broth but not too salty which is very comforting to the tummy.

Over-all, I'm still glad that Komorosoba s still there and doing good. 15 years ago, we often see the Japanese owner training his staff and observing how they work. I will still go back because I loved Japanese food that doesn't break the bank.

Baon Idea: Quick and Easy Tomato Cream Penne Pasta in Just 20 mins

It has always been a struggle for me to wake up so early in the morning to cook my kids' lunch and snacks in school (baon). I've been doing this for years, but it's still too hard especially when I'm too tired or slept late the night before. 

Preparing my kids' food is like a hit-or-miss battle. I'm planning to collect all the recipes I made that my kids liked so I can also share the recipe with you guys.

If your kids like pasta, this Tomato Cream Penne Pasta Recipe is very easy and only takes 20 mins to prepare. 

Step 1: Cook your penne pasta al dente or according to package instructions. I always deduct 1 min. from the required time to avoid over-cooking it. I set mine to 9 mins and it's perfect.

Step 2: Before draining the pasta, reserve around 1/2 cup of pasta water for the sauce. This can make the sauce coat the pasta noodles better.

Step 3: Saute Garlic and Onions until fragrant.

Step 4: Season with Salt, Pepper, and Chili Flakes (when I cooked this, I had no chili flakes in my pantry so I used my Chipotle powder instead). It's a perfect alternative!

Step 5: Add tomato paste. Saute for a while and add 1 pack of all purpose cream.

Step 6:  Add 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese. However, since we're trying to lessen our dairy intake, I always use Nutritional Yeast as a replacement. It's the closest vegan alternative to parmesan cheese.

Step 7: Taste and adjust the seasonings according to your taste. Add the pasta water that you reserved.

Step 8: Mix well until the penne is evenly coated with the sauce.

Step 9: Add lots of chopped fresh basil leaves.

Tomato Cream Penne Pasta Recipe

500 g penne pasta

1 tsp chopped garlic or more

1 tsp chopped onions or more

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

1 tsp chili flakes or chipotle powder (you can add more if you want it spicier)

2 tbsp tomato paste (you can add more if you want more red color)

1 pack All Purpose Cream

1/4 cup chopped basil leaves

What's New in Romantic Baboy? (2023)

It has been years since I last tried Romantic Baboy. I missed it so much! I was amazed that there were lots of new dishes and meats in their menu. Their ordering system is also new. Some may find it very confusing, but I find it more convenient and efficient.

Free Haircut When You Become a Member at Landers Superstore

It has been two years now since we got convinced to avail of the membership at Landers Superstore. We were just strolling around the Uptown Mall in BGC when an agent approached us and explained the perks we can get if we become a member. The first thing that got our attention was "Free Haircut for one Year?" He offered us a discount on the membership fee. Instead of Php 700, it became Php 400 only. Even if my husband goes there for a haircut just 2 times a year, we also got what we paid for. No more questions asked, we're still a member and enjoying the benefits until now.

To be honest,  I like going to Landers even if I'm not going to buy anything at the grocery store. While waiting for my husband to be done with his haircut, I hang out at the restaurant to have coffee, pizza, or fried chicken.
