Week 1: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair

January is still a pretty hectic month for me because of work. Weddings are crazy since the start of December. Don't get me wrong coz I'm not complaining. I love my work :)

But a lot of times for the past weeks I've been sleep deprived and I had to wake up super duper early for a morning wedding. And that's a bit unhealthy for my skin plus the fact that I love caffeine haha. When my skin is in a bad condition, I usually notice my foundation doesn't stick or blend well on my skin. I notice that too on some of my clients who weren't able to sleep well before their big day.

Week 01: I incorporated the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair on my usual skin care routine (Watson's Collagen Hydrating Cleansing Gel, Celeteque Dermoscience Acne Solutions Toner, Celeteque Sun Care SPF 30 (morning moisturizer), Estee Lauder Time Zone Night (night moisturizer). On my photo abovem you won't see most of my flaws in this photo as I had my Cinema Secrets Concealer and foundation on. On my first week of using it, the only thing I noticed is that my skin got more hydrated than before. My makeup glides on better even when my schedule got busy.

And that's my first report. What do you think? Don't forget to join my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair giveaway if you wanna have a chance to try it too.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair

I received these two bottles of Advanced Night Repair Serum from Estee Lauder last Thursday. One for me to try and share my experiences with you for four weeks and one for a lucky reader of this blog :) But I was busy during the weekend because of the bridal fair so it's just tonight that I'm going to include it to my night time skin care regimen.

Why I decided to try? Well...I'm not getting any younger and fine lines around the eyes and dry skin on some parts of my face are starting to appear. Some people tell me that I look younger than my age but that is when I'm dressed up or wearing makeup. My goal before my birthday (this coming April) is to receive the same compliments even when they see me with bare face or in simple clothes haha because right now I feel like my skin look dull. Momming mommy. haha!

That's why glad when I was offered to try this out. I have high hopes for this product as Estee Lauder is well-known for great skin care products. In fact, I'm still using the Time Zone that they gave me a few months ago and I like it.  Read on to know the promising benefits of this product:

Wrinkle Fillers I Like

Doing makeup for mature skin is the most challenging for me. Making sure that the skin is well-moisturized and the use of the proper foundation depending on the skin type is essential so the product would not pile up on those lines. But thru my experience in doing makeup on other people, I get the best result with the aid of wrinkle fillers.

I apply this type of product after moisturizing the face and before the foundation primer. This doesn't guarantee to remove those lines but it makes a huge difference I tell you. Here are the products I'm currently using:

IMG_4512

Celeteque Instant Wrinkle Smoothing Cream. I like this because it improves the skin condition with regular use as well.

IMG_4511

Loreal Base Maguque Transforming Smoothing Primer. This not only smoothens the lines but  helps cover pores as well.

IMG_4510

Tri-Aktiline Instant Deep Wrinkle Filler.

Here are some of my works using these products:

vilma5

tagaytay2

edel

mirzi2

pauline1

roch4

If you're still young or don't have signs of aging yet, owning this is not necessary. But if you have those and wish to hide them or if you're a professional makeup artist, wrinkle fillers should be a staple on your kit. These are just the products that I find working but if you know other products especially if they're affordable, please do comment ok? :)

Clip-on Hair Extensions

When I took a hair styling course at the HD Academy, my mentors would always say "you can't be a hairstylist if you do not have hair extensions". It's true because most brides today prefer longer and volumized hair which is sometimes impossible to achieve with their natural hair. Hair extensions are also useful in photoshoots that have complicated pegs.

One of my best career investments are these clip on extensions from Tokyo Posh. I've got the chance to talk to the owner, Denise Aquino, who's a fellow HD graduate last year and she got me hooked with these extensions from Japan. They're very easy to use. They're synthetic but high quality and looks very natural. (When using hair extensions, you need to use the shade that matches your hair color so it would look like your real hair). But the downside in using synthetic hair extensions is that you can't style it using your hot tools. So I take good care of these babies so I could use them for a longer time.

I've got different kinds that I've used in various gigs already.

IMG_4498

Ponytail extensions. This is my Dec 2 bride, Monique, who wants a longer side ponytail with a loose fish braid accent.

Half clip on. Used it on a prenup gig in Club Balai Isabel.

I also have this clip on bangs.

IMG_4496

IMG_4290

I looked more Chinese with a full bangs eh? haha

IMG_5250

This was my wedding gig last 11.11.11. The bride provided her own extensions because she wanted a long, waist-length curly hair.

But I recently discovered a synthetic heat resistant clip-on hair extensions while shopping at Landmark. It's only P429 so I immediately grabbed one to test :)

It looks natural too. Love it already even though I haven't tested it that much because it's cheaper and more versatile. I must buy some more in brown. hope they're back on stock.

Happy Thursday!

Flirt Waxing Lounge

Just before the holidays, my mom-in-law and I were invited to have a mom and daughter spa bonding experience at Flirt Waxing Lounge located at the place I heart Kapitolyo. If you live near the area or want to pamper yourself with a relaxing, comfy and peaceful ambiance away from the crowded places, you'll surely want to pay this salon a visit.

My mom-in-law pretty in pink while waiting at the Flirt Waxing Lounge reception area

IMG_6512

I love comfy seats. I almost fell asleep here.

Massage areas. They offer couples massage too!

As their name implies, waxing is their forte. But since I'm one of those girls who doesn't have that much hair on their body, I opted to have mani with nail art and pedi with foot spa instead.

IMG_6516

They showed me these lovely nail stickers but I opted for a nail paint instead since it's more durable.

IMG_6520

IMG_6526

This is Mara, their very talented nail artist. Check out the Flirt Waxing Lounge Facebook Fanpage to see more of Mara's work.

IMG_6529

Here's how my nails turned out after. Since I have uber short nails, I didn't give Mara a hard time. I chose a bow design on glittery black canvass. I liked how it turned out. I also wasn't expecting a lot since based from experience, nail polish last only a day or two on me since I always get my hands wet. But the nail polish they used is quite impressive. It lasted 4 days on my nails and I still have it on my toenails...argghhh it's hard to remove haha.

And if you're one of those who spent long hours on spa...you don't have to worry in case you get hungry because there's a variety of snacks available to order.

IMG_6514

IMG_6523

I had tuna sandwich with chips and dark chocolate shake (love!)

They also now have gift cards available which I think one is a perfect gift because I don't know a single woman who doesn't like getting pampered hehe. You can use the gift card for nail and waxing services plus the owner is a makeup artist so she has her own makeup station at the lounge (it's a complete package noh?)

My mom-in-law and I were so happy with the service we got. We loved the food and overall look and feel of the place too. It's good to know so many great places to hangout near the place you reside. This experience made me miss my mom even more. I've never had a spa bonding with her since I just graduated from college when they left for the US. We never got the chance.....But wherever she is, I know she's happy and peaceful and that's all that matters. Love you forever mom!

My Makeup Gear

2011 was a very good year for me. It was challenging but looking back....I thank God for giving me a lot of blessings family and career-wise.

I thank God for this little angel he gave us who's becoming "makulit" everyday. He's reaching the "terrible" stage in a few months haha. And for my hubby who has always been loving and supportive with what I do.

2011 was the year I gave my makeup career full focus and it was one of the greatest decisions I made. Now I can really say "I love my job".

Last year, I've got some inquiries reg the things I bring on a makeup gig. I've answered them thru email but I keep on updating my things from time to time so here's how my things look like when I'm on a makeup gig.

IMG_5562

A lighted mirror is a must! It's very hard to perfect the work when you cannot see the canvass well. I bought my lighted mirror with sticker name from fellow makeup artist, Cherry Pacheco.

IMG_5554

This is my huge makeup trolley from Suesh. It made my makeup life easier! haha. My hubby who is also my kargador sometimes find it very convenient as well.

I put my palettes, brushes, lights for the mirror, tissue and other stuff on the first layer.

IMG_5553

The second layer looks like my first makeup box. It comes with 5 pouches which I use to separate concealers, lipsticks and other makeups so I could easily find them when I need them.

IMG_5552

The third layer is for my hair tools. I only bring this when I have a hairstyling gig. I just need to find a cover for this

IMG_5551

I use the front and side pockets to keep my rollers and hair styling combs.

IMG_5556

And that's it! More about the brands I use next :) Happy New Year everyone!
